Cookie Policy

This policy explains how eVotaré uses cookies and similar technologies on evotare.com. We use strictly-necessary cookies to sign you in and keep the service secure, and — only if you opt in — analytics cookies that tell us how our public website is used. We do not use advertising cookies, and we never place analytics on voting, results, or administration pages.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They can be "strictly necessary" (required for the site to function and for security), or "optional" (analytics, personalization, advertising). Optional cookies require your consent before they may be set.

2. Cookies we use

Strictly-necessary cookies (always on)

These cannot be switched off — the service cannot sign you in without them:

• Session cookie (voteplatform_session) — keeps you signed in during a visit.
• Remember-me cookies (vp_rem and the voter remember-me cookie) — keep you signed in across visits when you choose "remember me". Rotated on each use.
• Cookie-consent record (evotare_cookie_consent) — remembers your cookie choice and the policy version it was made under, so we do not show the banner on every page. It is anonymous and stored only in your browser.

Analytics cookies (optional — off until you opt in)

If you choose Accept analytics, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC, to understand aggregate traffic to our public website. It sets:

• _ga (2 years) — distinguishes one visitor's browser from another.
• _ga_<container-id> (2 years) — holds Google Analytics session state.

How we have configured it: IP anonymization is on; Google Signals and ad personalization are off; we send page views only, and we never pass your name, email address, account, or organization to Google. Until you opt in, Google's consent-mode signals are set to denied and no _ga cookie is written.

Where it runs. Analytics load on our public site pages only — the home page, pricing, security, the sign-up and beta request pages, and these legal pages. They are never loaded on organization administration pages, ballots, voting screens, results, or verification pages. Ballots and voter identity never reach a third party.

Google's handling of the data it receives is described in its privacy policy.

3. Cookie categories

We structure cookies into the categories below.

• Strictly necessary — always on; required for sign-in, security, and this consent record.
• Analytics — in use, opt-in only. Nothing is set unless you choose "Accept analytics".
• Marketing — not currently used. If added, they will not be set unless you opt in.

4. Your choices

The banner on our public site offers two equally-weighted choices: Accept analytics sets the analytics cookies described above; Decline keeps them off. Declining still leaves the site fully usable — only the strictly-necessary cookies remain.

You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in our site footer. Switching from accept to decline stops collection immediately and removes the _ga and _ga_<container-id> cookies from your browser. When this policy's version changes, the banner reappears and analytics return to off until you opt in again.

You can also clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time, or install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to block Analytics on every site you visit. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may break sign-in.

5. Changes

We may update this policy and will post changes here with a new version and effective date. When the version changes, the notice banner will appear again so you can review the update.
